I checked into A&E at 11am with an excruciating headache, having been to a Neurologist the day before who saw the need for an MRI at the earliest opportunity. I was told I would have a blood test and an ECG (?), but was left sitting for over 2 1/2 hours, seeing everyone who had come after me being treated. When I checked they couldn't find my notes, followed by a 40 minute search, only to find them on a ward upstairs. After another 30 minutes or so I was finally taken to have a blood test and an ECG. I then waited and at c.16:30 I was given some Ibuprofen and told everything was fine and I could go home. Ibuprofen!! Which I could have bought in a supermarket.
Hours gone by and by. Staff just forgets about you if you do not approach them.
Triage nurse extremely kind, efficient.
I was quickly moved to major and not just returned to waiting room.
What is so good for all those who spend time in HODU is the care and attention given by the entire team. The attention goes far beyond the team's medical expertise and time spent in the unit is always beneficial for all of us who are cancer patients.
It would be very difficult to think of ways to improve what they do. The team's leadership is faultless.
My care here has been consistency excellent throughout my treatment - a most impressive unit.
The staff very caring.
